This spacious and well-equipped playground on the north side of Tallulah is a hubbub of recreational and sports activities for the family. It has volley ball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic facilities in a beautiful wooded area, and a paved walking-jogging trail.
The Department of Parks and Recreation, headed by Carlos Ford, was introduced in January, 2011, and is still in it's infancy. But much progress has already been achieved in the development of a comprehensive effort to offer the citizens of Tallulah and Madison Parish an infrastructure for a slate of athletic activities, competitive teams for virtually all sports, for virtually all age groups from kindergarten to senior citizens, including the handicapped,

One of the major objectives of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to
make better use of under-utilized athletic and recreation facilities dotted throughout Tallulah, and turn them into active facilities for organized athletic teams which would compete against each other and comparable teams from the surrounding areas.

The department will eventually offer such activities as concerts in the park, Little Theater stage productions, art classes, dance lessons, crafts classes, a Mardi Gras Ball, Saturday afternoon movie matinees with pop corn and soft drinks. The list of possible activities just goes on and on.

The activities offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation Department will be quite dependent on volunteers who will coach and referee teams, teach various classes, and staff the many activities.

Athletic teams will be open for sponsorship by various businesses. Businesses may also purchase 4 x 8 signs to be placed at various recreational sites.

To register for an athletic team, or to volunteer to for coaching, refereeing, or teaching classes, call Carlos Ford at 574-0964.
