The mission of the Tallulah Housing Authority is to assure the availability and the quality of housing needs for all citizens of Tallulah.

The Tallulah Housing Authority exercises oversight of all apartment communities that participate in subsidized rent payments, and to assure that all provisions of the Fair Housing regulations are uniformly enforced.

The housing authority and the City of Tallulah partner to take advantage of government funding for the construction of new single-family residential communities as well as apartment communities.

Due to varying degrees of leadership under previous administrations, there was a lengthy lull in the construction of new residential communities. For the first time in more than 30 hears, a new community was built in 2009 which provided 32 new single family homes. By the end of 2010 the Tallulah Estates I community had been sold out.

Another new residential community is under construction at the end of Scott Street, bringing yet another 31 new homes to Tallulah. Simultaneously, a third new community is in the early planning stage.
