EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION FOR THE RESIDENTS OF TALLULAH AND MADISON PARISH

NOTICE

THIS IS NOT AN EVACUATION NOTICE. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS MESSAGE IS TO
ADVISE YOU OF OPTIONS YOU CAN USE IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY FOR AN EVACUATION NOTICE TO BE ANNOUNCED AND IMPLEMENTED.

FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PLEASE CALL

318-574-6911       318-341-0234       318-341-1697

You should consider the possibility of packing up your cherished personal effects that might be   permanently destroyed or damaged in case of flooding. Family photos, family bibles, jewelry items,   financial documents, prescription drugs and other such items should be prepared for quick evacuation      if the order is given to evacuate

You should not try to "stay and wait it out" if an evacuation order is given. Limited resources would   limit, if not prohibit, emergency response personnel from coming to rescue you after flooding has   occurred. And you might be stranded for days before flood waters recede to a point when you might   attempt to leave your residence.

You should avoid driving on flooded roads when you are not certain of how deep the water is or   where the sides of the road are not defined. In recent storms that caused flash flooding, two deaths   were reported in Monroe resulting from people driving on flooded roads.

Round up and contain your pets in advance so that in the rush of an emergency evacuation notice, you   won't have to spend a lot of time trying to find them.

Try to notify your friends and relatives that you are safe, and where you can be found or how you can   be contacted during the evacuation.

Be aware that area hotel/motel accommodations and car rental companies are likely to be completely    sold out, and that you might have to go to more distant cities to seek accommodations.
