ANIMAL CONTROL
                                                NOTICE
All dangerous or vicious animals should be reported to the Animal Control Officer at 318-574-2346. If the animal is observed after regular business hours, please contact the Tallulah Police Department, 318-574-3230.

City of Tallulah is committed to protecting our citizens from dangerous animals. And yes…the city is equally committed to protecting animals from abusive citizens.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspected violation of city or state laws pertaining to the care, maintenance, and ownership of pets or livestock. City of Tallulah is committed to a strict enforcement of the laws to prevent animal cruelty or abuse.

STRAY ANIMALS
Stray animals in the area should be reported to the Animal Control Officer. It is illegal for stray dogs or cats to be running loose in the city.

ANIMAL BITES

In the event you are bitten by a dog or cat that breaks the skin or draws blood, please contact the Animal Control Officer immediately. If the bite occurs after regular business hours, call the Tallulah Police Department.

The victim should seek prompt medical attention as a precaution against rabies and other complications. Attention should be given by the Animal Control Officer to apprehend and hold the animal for observation for a 10-day period to determine if it carries the rabies virus.

PROTECTION FROM BATS

Bats are known for their ability to carry the rabies virus. Due to the risk of exposure to bats, please report the presence of bats in residential or work places. If you are bitten by a bat, seek immediate medical attention.
